The Columbia Golf Center is designated a First Tee facility. The First Tee, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation, has as it’s mission the following: “To impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.”
The First Tee National School Program provides students with a consistent, yearly exposure to golf through physical education programs, as typically occurs with the other sports and activities taught in school P.E.classes. The program provides students and their families with organized information on traditional golf opportunities, i.e., transition opportunities available to them within their local communities to increase understanding of the game and generate
The S.C. Golf Association provides golf instruction and technical support. The United States Golf Association (USGA) and the Professional Golf Association (PGA) have donated equipment and instruction support.
