August 6, 2007
The City of Columbia Golf Center was re-named the James E. Clyburn Golf Center during a dedication ceremony held on 10:00 am August 6, 2007 at the Center. The Golf Center, located at 2091 Slighs Avenue, was the original idea of Congressman Clyburn who hoped to make it a community gathering center and a beacon of hope for children to learn important principles through the game of golf.
Congressman Clyburn’s dedication to our city, our region, and especially our youth was honored and recognized by City officials. The renaming celebration not only focused on Congressman Clyburn and his many contributions to our city, but it also allowed the community to showcase a beautiful community center, prove our dedication to the youth of our community, and show our pride in the achievements of our fellow citizen.
